In our
11017NAT Advanced Diploma of Performance, we nurture your existing talent and dramatic instinct, helping you develop processes and disciplines needed to achieve career goals. We guide you through need-to-know industry information, and how to launch your own performance projects.
In the Advanced Diploma, our goal is to transform you into a versatile actor, able to embrace performance opportunities across a wide range of media.
The course is 18 months of study full-time.
Before starting the 11017NAT Advanced Diploma of Performance, you need to complete the 10915NAT Certificate IV in Acting.
In this course, you will learn:
- Further acting techniques - Building on the foundations laid in the Certificate IV program with additional techniques to add to your toolkit
- How to develop confidence as a screen actor - with 100 hours of screen practice, feel more confident in front of the camera.
- How to master your theatre skills - participate in six+ live stage performances, use all your theatrical techniques; explore genres including Australian works, Shakespeare, Absurdism, and many others.
- To devise new work - learn how to create a new work from scratch through an amazing process of collaboration
- To speak in a range of accents - master American, British, and other accents to diversify the roles you can play and where you can work
- How to develop a stronger voice - Continue to gain control over your voice, improve articulation, vocal resonance, and projection; voiceover artistry, and singing.
- About the business of acting - how to find work; to promote yourself and your brand; to raise money for projects, and how to work as a freelancer.
- Auxiliary skills for the actor - Explore additional skills like stage combat and TV presenting, and so diversify your employment prospects
How long is this course?
You can study this course full-time over 18 months (equivalent to three days per week).
Are there any prerequisites for this course?
To apply for this course, you need to have completed the 10915NAT Certificate IV in Acting or an equivalent course in acting or musical theatre.

How much does it cost?
Your investment in your training is $23,985, or $7,995 per semester. This covers:

We can arrange a payment plan by mutual agreement.
This course does not qualify for Fee-HELP.
What kind of performances will I be involved in?
There are a range of performances through this course:
- Monologue presentations
- Scene work
- Six theatre shows
- Screen projects

- If you have not been acting in the last two years, we may require you to do an audition as well as your interview.
- After the interview, we'll advise you about whether you've been accepted into the course.
